Jl Audio 10tw3-d4 Shallow-mount 10 Jl Audio 10tw3-d4 Shallow-mount 10 (Electronics) I put this in my 06 Tacoma double cab behind the back seat in a sealed box, and I am powering it with an Alpine mono D-class amp bridged to 2 ohms for 550 watts. Dam this thing drops! It is not like a Soloberic or ordinary JL subs, but I did not have room for those without sacrificing storage or seating. I am not a kid anymore so I was OK with the deep bass loss I THOUGHT I would get, but that is not how this story goes. Now after having this in my truck for a week I can tell you it moves my hair…imagine that…one lil ole 10 inch sub making that much noise that I can feel my hair move…Definately a beast sub for those who need to fit tiny spaces.

Kenwood TM-281A 144MHz FM Transceiver Kenwood TM-281A 144MHz FM Transceiver (Electronics) I’ll start with a disclaimer. I just got my technician license about a month ago and this is my first and only radio so I don’t have experience with other radios (other than reviews and comparisons). So with that out of the way here goes my review.Knowing nothing about radios I selected this one because it was the #1 best seller on Ham Radio Outlet (it has since dropped to #2) and had very good reviews on eham.net. Plus I was familiar with the Kenwood name based on their car audio equipment. I have purchased two of them so far, one for the car and one for home.Kenwood has always been known for good audio quality (for ham radio equipment at least) and I usually hear that I sound good with full quieting even at ~20-30 miles with low power (25 watts). It’s also very sensitive when it comes to picking up distant stations. Of course this also has a lot to do with the type of antenna you have and it’s position, height and RF propagation, but in my case I’m running a homemade 1/4 wave ground plane antenna (tuned to 146Mhz) in my attic, so it’s about 12-15 feet off the ground. With that setup I’m able to pick up and transmit to a repeater about 50 miles away. It’s a bit scratchy with the RX audio and I don’t know how much power it’s running, but it’s still not too bad. The front facing speaker is good, but I had a speaker that I wasn’t using that I plugged into the back speaker port that makes it sound better. It’s very easy to program and I didn’t need any special software to program it. It did take a little while figure out some of the features like how to get a PL tone programmed in to memory (you have to tune the station, turn on CT or T, set the tone or CT, all while in VFO mode, and then put it in memory. Make when you select a tone to press the tuning knob to set it before moving on, that one took me a while to figure out). It also took me a while to figure out how to send a tone to a repeater but not have it on for receive, that’s what the “T” setting is for. There’s “T”, “CT” and “DCS” “T” for tone, “CT” for CTCSS, and DCS. “CT” is for two-way CTCSS (or PL tone), the same tone RX and TX, “T” is for just sending a tone on TX but no tone squelch for RX. That wasn’t very well documented in the manual. Before I figured this out, I had set CT in memory and the radio would squelch out everything (like it was supposed to) so I would switch from memory to VFO on the same frequency so I
